I use a Ubiquiti Unifi Security Gateway as my router and have the VOIP/WAN2 port set as the backup, connected to a raspberry pi with a freedompop hotspot on it. So light network things such as...

Iris is actually mostly zigbee, I have several of their devices in my smartthings system. I particularly like their smart plugs because while they are controlled by zigbee, they also have a z-wave...

If you have Zigbee you're stuck. That's the other thing I like about Z-Wave as there are several manufacturers that use the Z-Wave protocol for controllers & devices. If one manufacturer goes under...

Oh does it not support zigbee? Most of the devices in my house are zigbee.

Anything with "Z-Wave" on it will work & that's the lion's share of the market so it technically supports just as many if not more probably. They also update regularly & it's a very well supported...

Thanks for the clarification. And the VeraLite sounds awesome if it works offline. That's the one crippling thing I hate about smartthings. Does VeryLite also support all the many devices that...

Yeah, I have seen the Zooz switches. I think the other poster just thought I meant a "3-way" or "4-way" setup. What I want is a zwave stacked switch. I haven't seen one yet. It can be done with a...

All hard-wired Z-Wave light switches behave just like non Z-Wave light switches when there is no communication with the hub for whatever reason. As far as the Hub being "down", I have a VeraLite...

Does anyone have any idea on how these behave when the hub is down or they are not connected? Do they still control the fan from the switch with no issue?

I've looked. I cannot find any reference to a single zooz switch having 2 separate switches or acting in any way that way. Unless you are talking about the Zooz 3-way switching using a regular SPST...

Well thanks for that. As I said, I can't find any reference to what you are talking about. But thanks for being in any way helpful.

That's not true. All houses have neutrals. Older houses didn't have separate grounds (they just used the conduit...or didn't have a ground altogether). But neutral is a must have in AC systems... ...

only the hot and ground go into the box, the neutral stays at the light fixture... not sure what's not to understand, this was normal practice back in the day, less wire to run and they weren't...
