I haven't been following the price for the Nikon version closely. Seems like the best deal on SD for that was 255+tax on Amazon. So 279$ comes fairly close for must of us who don't have to pay tax on...

Sorry for missing it out. It seems like for Nikon, they have an even better deal. The Nikon lens with AE Chip is only 279$.

I screwed up my math... Canon crop sensor factor is 1.6x. 12mm on a crop sensor is effectively 19mm on a FF sensor.
But, in case you aren't aware, crop sensors only capture a portion of the lens...

Snagged one. I currently use a crop sensor camera, but want to eventually get a full-frame body, too. To avoid buying double the lenses, I try and get lenses that fit both.
