I own the set, they don't seem light and plasticky to me, but then that's hard to really dispute. It's made of a plastic with an overmold. I haven't used the set much because my uses are mostly...

Fair enough, I guess if you are talking about a screw with pilot hole etc and you are cranking down the clutch to release with modest torque. So I guess both tools have their applications then

Impact drivers are great for bigger screws in tougher materials, but if you want finesse and the ability to drive a screw precisely, you can't beat a drill's clutch.

The old "drill/driver" all in one is antiquated. Now the drill should be used to drill, and the impact driver used to drive anything and everything. I really don't see the need for ever using the...

I recently purchased the drill / impact driver and they both serve their purpose. I was running cables at my place and needed to go through three 2x4. I started with the drill but then it keep...

That sucks. Good thing you caught it though, as I imagine registering it for the lifetime warranty might have been problematic with an unexpected tool. But even if you get it replaced, as opposed...

Sounds like they Effed Up on that box Still, the question remains. Is the 86038 "better" or "worse" than the 86037. I like the 3 LEDs around the chuck area of the 86037, vs the base-mounted LED...

Ugh, mine is a r86035, does not say brushless on the tool. Sorry for being so stubborn, taking it back for another.

The r86038 is obviously new but really trying to figure out what it is. If it says Brushless on the actual tool then how would they include a brushed motor? S1d1 does your tool say 86038 on it? Does...

The pictures in the listing show "brushless" on the lower handle. The Ridgid reps in the Q&A confirm that this kit is supposed to include a brushless R86038. The manual shows that the R86038 is...

There are "brushless" at the base where you install the battery and on the back GEN5X label emblazoned with four T-15 screws is not enough?

There's nothing in the pictures that suggest it's brushless - in fact the lack of the "brushless" label emblazoned on the back is rather suggestive, don't you think? I'd put the owners manual down...

The pictures and owner's manual indicate that the R86038 is brushless. From where did you learn that may be inaccurate? ...

R86037 is the brushless impact driver, R86035 and R86038 are gen5x, but are not brushless. ETA: to be clear, it's still a good deal, and probably no one will notice the difference.

This kit should include the R86038 impact driver which is brushless. If you got some other impact driver, then get it exchanged.

Despite the copy *implying* otherwise, the impact driver in this kit isn't brushless, only the drill is.

This was the answer that Ridgid posted in the Q&A on HD website November 30, 2017 Hi, Skybox. We apologize for any confusion. I have done some research on this model set R9603. The models...

I JUST CAME ONTO THIS TOO by reading Q&A on Home Depot site. It would appear that they made a BS Black Friday Special tool set here. The model number of these items doesn't match those on the HD...

Does anyone know why there’s a Gen5X brushless impact with led light on bottom of handle and then another with three led lights? I’m fairly certain that the drill is also a Gen5X in this kit as...

Unfortunately looks like they hiked the price back up to $199....oh well I'm not going to consider it at that price.
