We have a 1900X at work for the purpose of a software build machine. It is intended for this kind of stuff. The beast just replaced a $5k dual proc Xeon (a few years old). The new system was...

Ignore the nonsense and read the reviews. The 1900X is a processor in need of a solution, for the vast majority of cases. The R7 series makes more sense for gamers and the 1920/1950 are the real...

I missed nothing. What you've missed are the reviews. They show this processor to be extremely niche. It's too pricey for what it offers for game-playing. The 1920X is a much better choice if you...

You missed the point of my post. If the additional chipset and bandwidth are a must have then this chip will do plenty good on gaming. It doesn't need to be the frontrunner to render plenty of FPS.

No. This processor is a turkey for gaming, considering the price/performance ratio. Only the 1920 and 1950 did better than an 1800X with any significance in games, and only in the latest Tomb Raider...

This is ideal for gamers who want a healthy amount of threads along with quad channel and tons of pci express lanes. I think MC has this for 350. Pretty awesome.

Great price for CPU. But look on Newegg. You’ll see 10 boards total to choose from. Starting at $330. Pass. Getting the 1800X makes sense. Tons of boards to choose from. Best bang for the buck.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that the motherboards START around ~$300 - many of which aren't particularly special. Adds an unnecessary $200 to the price tag, even for 'enthusiast' purchasers. Otherwise...

Unless you're building a super high end system with 4 sticks of RAM and multiple video cards, you're much better off with a 1700x which was $230 for BF?

What's the reason to buy this over 1800X? If you want Threadripper, I think it makes more sense to go for the 1950X for the 16 core.

FYI AMD already has a 16 core/32 thread CPU in the form of the 1950x.

At the same time? Don't quote me in this but my understanding is that the main reason to get this is to keep options open for maybe a 16 core 32 thread processor later. AMD has said they'd like to...
