You missed the point of my post. If the additional chipset and bandwidth are a must have then this chip will do plenty good on gaming. It doesn't need to be the frontrunner to render plenty of FPS.

No. This processor is a turkey for gaming, considering the price/performance ratio. Only the 1920 and 1950 did better than an 1800X with any significance in games, and only in the latest Tomb Raider...

Great price for CPU. But look on Newegg. You’ll see 10 boards total to choose from. Starting at $330. Pass. Getting the 1800X makes sense. Tons of boards to choose from. Best bang for the buck.

What's the reason to buy this over 1800X? If you want Threadripper, I think it makes more sense to go for the 1950X for the 16 core.
