I deal with small gauge wire all the time. These should be good for when you need to cut several at once. But for most stripping and single wire cuts I use scissors. Hope that helps.

I don't know about the stanley but the critical reviews of the Irwin focus on the size (smaller than appears in photo, which has no reference), some mention no spring-back mechanism to keep them open...
