No, not at all! It was designed to be removed (has velcro) so you can wash it.
You can probably make your own inner padding with a towel and some double-stick velcro.

Yeah same here... and I kinda figured that would be the case, but I bought for my kids and also as a collectible. If you really want to wear it, you can just remove the padding inside. That worked...
