At the machine shop I work at we use Mitutoyo, Starrett, and Brown & Sharpe.
If some uses Harbor Freight or some other off brand inspection instruments, they will get laughed at and thrown out...

Have been using one for two years from HF at 8% of the cost of this one. Unless your a doing machine work the HF one will do just fine for you.

Thanks, I didn't see it called out, but I have never had a set of mitutoyo that didn't have this basic feature...guess I am passing despite wanting a replacement good set.

If this is out of your price range, consider the mitutoyo vernier calipers instead. Model 530-104 spent several months under $40 at Amazon, although at the moment it's back up around $70.

But in earnest, this is a pretty boring tool if you don't have real use for it.
