I used the revensun splitter/stripper with an HDMI to VGA adapter to connect a fire stick to my old Benq VGA projector. It worked great. I imagine it would work fine with an HDMI to dvi adapter.

Have you tried a $5 HDMI to DVI adapter? HDCP isn't limited to HDMI. It works fine over DVI, DisplayPort, etc.
