Yeah if you're going that route. It's better to have 64GB or 128GB for server class of DDR4 and then hack the OS to boot off the Ramdrive using an image. Then not even NVMe can touch the speed of...

I have a r9 390 graphics card just collecting dust, thought I might as well put it to use, but ya $80 isn't bad except it's dual core :-( i might hold out or just sell the card on ebay.

Thx for the info, didn't even think of the i3, would at least like quad core. But $80 isn't bad for 7th gen

I don't think this ment for miners, the cost of implementation the m.2 slot is too great, plus giving up the space on the mobo

I have the 250m Pro-vd and there is an overclocking section in the bios. So, no with a Pentium or a Celeron but surely an unlocked I5/I7 would be able to. Hah. If you have been shopping for a...

That is not true. Optane is a usable drive. You can also raid optane drives, so u could in theory get enough storage to do a windows install on it or just use the single 1 for a crazy nice Linux boot...

I got this board last week for $35 after MIR. Well, the B250M pro VD actually which is pretty much the same minus the bundled Optane thingy in this deal. I paired it with a G4600 processor. Its...

Was hoping to pick up an inexpensive CPU with this for a cheap build. To work with octane you need 7th gen intel cpu? Most inexpensive 7th generation CPU is what? $200? Pass on this :-(

But it does not have to hold the whole OS on it, after you install Windows it really uses a small core amount of files, few gig tops most of the time, that can easily be cached into this CACHE drive,...

If it was $15-$20 No MIR I'd get it just to play around with the 16GB module or adapt it to a SATA instead but you easily find 16GB SSDs for about $7 a piece in bulk. These should be really be at...

Its a cheaper alternative. It can make a 2 TB 7200 RPM drive feel a lot more like a 2 TB SSD, without the ridiculous price of a 2TB SSD

I have a HTPC. The OS drive is a SSD and I have a 3TB spinner with an old SSD as an Intel RST cache. It works just about as well as my SSD directly for gaming.

For PiHole, it uses very little resource, I actually run it on a Seagate dockstar with only 128MB memory. The same Dockstar is also an NFS server for two Rpi3Bs root file system.
