I dove in Costa Rica. I don’t consider it to be that great a destination for it tbh. It wasn’t bad, but it isn’t Belize or should be considered relatively equivalent, imo.

In the last couple years, the exit fee was added onto the ticket price at least with Delta and American. So you pay it in advance, but not when you leave. Not sure if that applies to copa.

Copa is honestly one of the best carriers I have ever been on. Free drink, free food, comfortable seats, no extra baggage fees, cute attendants, and just a great experience.

Don't forget that there is a $20 exit fee that you have to pay at the airport that is NOT included in your ticket. At least it has been like that the last few times I was in CR.

We enjoyed a week in Western Costa Rica last year. Good rate on car rental (but yes, you are required to but govt insurance. Cheap had and newly paved road.
