I NEVER had a problem once it was primed. The stop valves always kept water in the tubes... Connect, and open one set, open the filter valve till it fills, close, connect, open, plug in.

I got this exact same one for about 11 years now. Very reliable and quiet. There's no buckets for the media so making cleaning a bit harder, but it is running like a tank and just so quiet.
