NFC worked on my iPhone 6s and now my 8 Plus with the metal plate. I don't use wireless charging. The magnetic feature for me is more important.

I'm always using wireless charging at home, so installing metal plate under the case will desable this feature along with NFC I guess useless for me :(

Yes, this is a 6 magnet one, its the one you want. I have an iPad Mini in a LifeProof case and its been rock solid, bouncing around in an Xterra. Avoid the round base ones as they are just 4 magnets.
