The source isn't going to output in two resolutions from one HDMI connection, more than likely one of the displays will down sample the signal to something it natively supports.

It's usually to split one source to two locations. In my case, my PS4 is routed to my monitor and HDTV. :peace:

If you already need a switch for two devices, you're better off getting one with another port or two on it.
