That is true, and there is a strong possibility for termites. For those 2 reasons, I’d stay away from the free city/county mulch.

When spreading mulch...dont even bother with a shovel - buy a 10 tine/ prong pitch fork if you dont have one. Go with the long handle. Dont go wider or shorter or you're just tire yourself out...
