The SD slot itself was bad... I figured it out with no help from Lenovo. Thanks for your help.. i was able to narrow it down to not being software.

I checked and there's one ribbon cable.. It also.connects to the usb port. USB port works fine. But sd does not. Do you know what it looks like in device mgr?

The SD card slot works fine on mine with no additional drivers. You might check the ribbon cable to the sd slot to make sure it didn't come loose.
