I can still use mine to lift up and drag away some of our 5x7 rugs with the suction it produces. That really sucks for others to have poor performance for a high priced product.

I also got refurb Dyson dc33 maybe 2-3 years ago. It works great. I always wanted a ball model but the reviews turned me off. The dc33 has a lot more power but the wand is annoying to use.
