AFAIK, aftermarket warranty kicks in after the manufacturer's warranty expires, not? I won't mind paying $18 for extra 2 year warranty, sounds like a deal to me

I have both this drive and samsung 2TB. The samsung is about 20% faster doing android builds. When I bought this drive it cost almost a third of the samsung drive, so I love it.

I'd argue SATA and NVME SSDs have a few key differences that need to be known, like what you pointed out there. I added my own heatsink on my NVME drive and it works like a charm.

this should work fine with the early 2009 iMac. but you may need to get a mounting bracket to make it fit. And yes, it is worth with the free space you get and it should make the iMac a bit faster,...

I'm not defending it. Controllers burning up was one of the original problems with SSDs. It's absolutely perplexing that this problem still persists.
