Even if it was really bad, you can do an electrolysis bath and take the rust off of cast iron completely. Possibly challenging if you're in an apartment or something, but otherwise reasonably...

Bought the 10.5 in sq. skillet instead at 15. Free pick up. Dont need glove or screen..already have it. Fajitas wil fit in it. plus sq pan is more vertile for all around cooking.

Unless it was really bad, 10-15 minutes with some steel wool could have probably cleared up the rust. A thin layer of oil and an hour in a hot oven and voila, reseasoned cast iron.

Keep in mind you can scald your skin very easily with cast iron. It holds onto heat energy for a very long time. Don’t serve this to children or elderly and warn people as you set it down.
