I have the 401 model and they say that it has the cheaper IR remote vs the RF in the 405. Otherwise it is the same.

I bought a TCL 49 inch at BJ’s warehouse for 250.00 and I love it. The picture is great and it has all the built in apps. I am seriously considering cutting the cord and getting rid of cable.

I bought this same TV for $209 (Refurb) on ebay, so I don't think it's that a great of a deal! BTW; My TV has been working fine. Didn't buy an extended warranty has refurbs have the bugs worked out...

Was $315 at Target last year around BF. Nice set. Doesn't get very bright. Roku is amazing. We've replaced cable with app channels, as they are all 1080p vs 720p/1080i.

I just set up a 43 inch TCL, and the viewing angle is just horrendous, I can't have a 55 inch TV it's just too big so I don't really know what to do because it seems like most good TVs are 55 and up....

I own both the 55s405 and the 55r617. The 55r617 does have a better picture than the s405, but the s405 is still a damn good tv. I have my r617 in the living room where it excels in the bright...

You likely either have the IR emitter set a little bit off or you have some interference (sunlight and fluorescent lights can cause this).

go with 55p605 if the price difference is negligible. It is much better TV with better brightness. Boyh are last years model s405 entry level and p605 beigh the premium line.

It has. However, when I installed it a few months ago, it was a beta version of the app. And it was rather slow compared to other streaming apps. Just something to keep in mind.

I've got one of these from a year or so ago... Paid a bit over 400. No complaints really, but I'm not a TV connoisseur. The 4k is nice since I'm using it for my htpc.
