Seems to me an in-line pressure regulator like the ones they sell at HF could be used to set the pressure while inflating. I've never tried it, so I could be wrong, but it might be worth a try.........

My Milton is about 2 years old and still seems like a quality product. As I mentioned in an earlier posting, you can even run over it with a car and it'll likely be undamaged.
