I read that Google claims it is functional in a car- then learned only in a car with its own hotspot. This cannot be used thru a phone's hotspot if that same device is used to control the cast device.

Same setup, no problems, BUT make sure 5 Ghz and 2.4 GHz channels are DIFFERENT NAMES.
