Think of this as Best Buy putting a down payment for you. You can then choose DPP or pay off the remaining balance.

I believe the phone comes unlocked. I put an Xfininty Mobile sim in and it worked fine after reboot and showed Xfinity logo and everything. Switched sim back and verizon logo came back.
