Not exactly. 4 bits together need to distinguish 16 values or 15 divisions. Each bit actually only need to distinguish no more than 4 values. The Gray code scheme should be 4-4-3-4.

Looks like you've also got an msata half height slot in that laptop so you could put a half height SSD in that slot to use as a boot drive and keep your mechanical for storage or you could just swap...
