It makes no difference for 99.9% of flash drives since very few can saturate the transfer limit of USB 3.0 so whether its 3.0, 3.1 gen1, gen2, etc., doesn't matter except for nicer quality external...

These are very slow.. they are USB 3 ports but nowhere near USB 3 speeds. A coworker has this and to transfer the same file his was going about 22MB/s and my SanDisk Extreme did over 200MB/s.
