It's not guaranteed to be MLC because it has variable BOM so the manufacturer (Western Digital) regularly changes what goes into it to typically what's the cheapest or what they have on hand. ...

It's dramless BUT it's mlc too, which is kind of offsetting. The 860 Evo, unlike most other popular ssd's, is mlc as well. I have one of each, bought the 480gb version of this about a year before...

Yep they are clueless. all modern controllers use at least some Dram. Some have a tiny amount (a working buffer) and some use a larger amount (a cache). And stutter.. That was freaking shitty...
