I just picked up a bottle at my local ABC store here in VA. I went for a bottle of Blantons and saw one box of Yamazaki on a shelf. Unfortunately, no Costco price . Retail of $99.99 for me.

Well, I like Lagavulin a lot so not really inexperienced in peaty malts ... rather the lack of character I found in Hakushu for my taste. I do love Balvenie as well, for its sweetness ... so pallet...

If you go back, try the top level of MITSUKOSHI Ginza store. They had a 18 yr yamazaki selling for $500. I regret not buying but that was 2 years ago. Of course, people went nuts over Yamazaki...
