You're right- at around $75, it's a steal. I have mine in my bag just for the bokeh it can give that my other lenses can't, unless I really back up.

Yeah, the one I have is the mark II and it struggles and makes quite a bit of noise when using autofocus. I might consider getting one like this, or upgrade to f/1.4

You're probably thinking of the older Canon 50mm f/1.8 II, which was very plasticy. They updated it with the STM model to more closely match their other EF lenses to not be so cheap feeling.

I love my nifty-fifty. Other people are correct- no worries on the warranty with being international (grey market).
It is a great lens, but don't expect to shoot at 1.8 and get great results...

Agreed. I never buy bundles. But, if Canon or others put out a bundle with a couple primes (50mm, 85mm, or similar) I'd consider it.

I wouldn't worry too much about the warranty on a $75 lens. The nifty fifty in popular for a reason and should be in any beginner's photography bag.
