I guess I was lucky, but no, the drives are fine, but again the drives are ssd's and they strain the dock power supply much less, the thing just no longer would stay connected reliably, it still...

Did the dock kill the drive? My drive was working fine I just needed to migrate the data to a different drive.. It killed my new drives.. IDK, but as said I have come to depend on a open computer...

Lol my mediasonic also just failed, remembered this post.
Didn't take out my drives but they were ssds, their website links are all broken, its long out of warranty regardless....

I know it is slow, but my point is that I have found the quality can be so bad on some of these that they destroy drives, The one I wont use any more was made by Mediasonic... Again I have a computer...

Powering one high rpm drive isn't a problem, its two that is. 2.0 has the same amp issues if you look at the adapter its probably 2 amps, and usb 2.0 is slow as dirt.

7200rpms use more power, these dual docks tend to come with a 3amp power brick, 7200rpm becomes dicey. You can buy a 4+ amp power brick to compensate.

Yea, just use macrium reflect free.
The offline clone feature is just a novelty.
Mostly its a nice way to add drives with UASP support with reliable power easily.

While transferring 2 separate 3.5 7200hd wd black drives to different hdd it did get occasional read error. About 6 times it dropped in 12 hours of transferring 8gb. Just had to click continue on...
