I have the Pioneer AVH-2330NEX (similar head unit, but 7" display) and it's a great unit. Unfortunately I believe Google specs restrict Android Auto to displays of 6.5" or greater. Not sure why...

Agreed. I've now dumped all of my Garmins, and no longer use any built-in navigation in any of my vehicles. I've gone exclusively to Android Auto for navigation. My wife still wants to plug-in...

These are fantastic stereos, don’t fall into the Boss or Dual trap. Get Pioneer or better always.

If you have full warranty with it - I wouldn’t worry much, contact Fry’s to verify, they can give you extra discount. But I agree - by default it is close to “consumer fraud”

I have the W4400nex, which is still Pioneer but Android Auto and Apple Carplay are both wireless. I absolutely love it and would never go back.

I agree. I have the older 8200NEX and my car dealer gave me a loaner Audi Q8 which has wireless CarPlay. After experiencing the difference, I'm now looking at swapping out the 8200 for the 8400

I'm in the market for a new head unit but I was going to get one from Best buy for the free installation because I have no clue how to install one of these but this price seems really good for this...

Free installation for $125?
Post #127797937 added 05-26-2019 3:27 PM by Frostillicus in Deal Talk
I’m pretty sure they were referring to the price difference (349 - 225), but it is a good point that “free installation” at Best Buy is often not free anymore. I had a stereo put in there for my Kia...

I just installed this unit in our minivan a few months ago. We really like it. Paid $350 for it :-(

Honestly it’s not hard at all. It’s super easy ones you buy a stereo harness. All you have to do is match the wire colors from the stereo to the harness then it becomes plug & play. when doing it...

I would not, however I also highly doubt that it’s absolutely essential to buy a $249 metro accessory kit in order to install any stereo in that car. Seems to me like they are overcharging for parts...

The difficulty of installation depends entirely on what vehicle you drive. Some would take me 30mins to put this in. Some 90mins. And some I wouldn't even bother touching.

Many people also confidently think they can install themselves, until they have everything taken apart, and realize it doesn’t work correctly one way or another, and have no clue how to make it work,...

Ugh I have a 2004 Acura TL and all I want is to add some ability to either read MP3s off a USB drive or connect my iPhone to the stereo. Any options other than replacing the whole head unit? (which...

You definitely can, I just did it yesterday. Camera was $30, but PITA to get wires from the back of the car to the headunit, took me 4 hours to do it and find where to get power/reverse wires. ...

I worked for a few car stereo places. The free install is just labor, because with the exception of a few cars, it’s pretty trivial given you buy the installation parts (dash kit, wire harness, and...

No, it's a semi-valid point. It relies on your phone for GPS (Apple/Google Maps or Waze), but your phone has to be plugged in for either of those. Otherwise it's just regular Bluetooth audio with...

No GPS? Seems a complete waste.
Post #127866997 added 05-29-2019 2:56 PM by blahbleh in Deal Talk
Even though it is a semi-valid point, the headunit GPS idea died out because you can’t update maps conveniently. The headunit makers don’t even want to keep their maps up-to-date because it’s not...
Post #127867192 added 05-29-2019 3:05 PM by blahbleh in Deal Talk
Of course, no doubt that GPS is optional, nice to have and it should stay that way. It’s just that the other poster said “no GPS? Seems a complete waste” like GPS is a must-have, which is not the...

Unfortunately, wireless is the way to go. Plugging you phone in each time gets old fast. I would recommend spending the money on a wireless unit (I went from a 4200 to a 4400).
