Exactly. People who buy high-spec'ed products are implicitly educated and aware of the differences to begin with. This reminds me of people sitting their fat asses on recliners, across their living...

Yeah, most people noticing the difference are noticing it in benchmark results and not real world usage.

100% Nonsense. That's like saying 99% of the people buying 16 Core CPU's won't notice any difference over 8 Core. Almost all the people buying them for the 5000MB/s speeds are benchmarking them and...

I do too. The fact that they kept the new procs backwards compat was enough imo. However, I feel their mistake was to even have Mobo manufacturers test pci4 on older chipsets by providing them with...

I guess that depends on your definition of quick. I see that as inside of 6 months or so. As with any market predictions, it's nothing more than a guess, so I could very well be wrong. But with pci5...

Smart people agree with it. Lots of people don't understand tech and business (i.e. not upsetting your customers by making them think your stuff is crap).

They will fall but doubt it will be quick, the work for pcie 4.0 adds a good amount to cost and with this trade war...

This time around AMD developed the chipset drivers and not as media. I suspect is the change of manufacturing that’s causing the difference in power draw. I actually one of the few people who...

I could be wrong but I don't think even the latest graphics can saturate pci3 yet. If that is the case, it's only nvme that can fully utilize pci4, and as you said for day to day other bottlenecks...

I'm disappointed too but I can also understand to a degree their desire to curb liability and bad press/reviews because a testers/reviewer/consumers Mobo traces were sub par for pci4 so they get...

In other words, because not many consumers will buy X570 if older boards can support new technology via firmware update, we don't want vendors to do consumers a solid. /roast But seriously, I get...

I don’t get it. That’s not Gen4. This is a Gen4 drive. Some people have X570 mobo and want these drives. Technically a 1980 Honda is the same as a 2020 Porsche so ppl should stop comparing apples...

That's why I got an X470 board. I don't want the wasted electricity and heat and proprietary motherboard fan that would be hard to replace. Don't need PCIe 4.0.

You don't need an X570 to get PCIE 4.0. Just wait for your B350/B450/X470 BIOS update to enable gen4 pcie on the current board. Gigabyte was the first to release a bios that backports pcie 4.0 for...
