If you search around, there's several methods of adding the Google play store to these, as well as removing the Amazon ads and crap. Just did it on the HD 8 I got from prime day.

I've purchased 4 Fire8s which are arguably better and unless you're 100% in the Amazon ecosystem, they're miserable. No device has caused my children nearly as many tears as these. Never again.

This thing is not worth 10 bucks each. The 8” version is not worth the 25 bucks I paid on prime day. Completely unusable slow machine.
