I have accumulated so many Amtrak points. LA to Seattle round trip or SF to Chicago one way will use about 40k points on a sleeper and will depend which sleeper accommodations and dates.

As long as you do some sort of Amtrak activity, the points will be fine. I.e. book a trip, redeem points for a trip, refer someone to the program and they book a trip (500 free points!), dining...
