Don't expect the stock cooler to do a good job. I replaced mine with a deepcool $20 cooler and it lowered stress temperature by 20c.

Considering that the 1600 has the better cooler, if there is another price drop on it in the coming months, would you buy one of those or wait on the 2600? I'm assuming that the price spread would...

I have this 2600X with 16GB PC3200 RAM/ GTX1060 6GB / X470. Only playing path of exile and doom (2016) at 95% max settings (shadow setting at ultra on PoE has a bug). Both are 100-144hz 1080p, GPS...

nice, thanks for the RAM info. I went overkill on RAM last build to OC, and it turned out to be somewhat of a waste. The BIOS had minimal settings and most OC settings were not persistent,...

I just did a budget build at Micro Center using the 1600 and RX 580. As stated above, the GPU gets maxed before the Ryzen. I skimped on memory with 8GB DDR-2666, and that does fine with games too. So...

is the ryzen 5 1600 still the best price/performance ratio APU for a budget 1080p gaming build? or any other recommended CPU & discrete graphics combos worth a little extra money? Microcenter is...

Agreed, as a daily driver this is plenty powerful, and it can be paired with a decent graphics card for gaming. And as mentioned, the 3600 which people love is only a 10-15% improvement for 33% more,...

Bought the 3700x, coming from the 2600. Nice to have the speed increase, but don't really need the extra two cores. Providing theres a worthwhile improvement, I'll probably get the 4000 series 6...

The 3600 is ~10-15% faster, which may or may not be worth the extra $50 (+33%) depending on the buyer.

Yes. I bought one for a better deal on urlhasbeenblocked though. I looked at the 3600. But it wound up being almost $100 price difference for me, so the 2600x was a no brainer.

It's still a pretty good CPU, a lot of people are jumping at the Ryzen 3600, but for $50 bucks cheaper this is a pretty competitive (if slightly) older option. Of course it depends what you're doing...
