Exactly right. Analog film elements, if taken care of, can yield great results when converting to 4k. The challenges most studios would be forced to address would be the low quality digital effects...

It all depends on the source they are sampling. If they use the original theater film then the resolutions were even higher than 4k. You have to think about the size of screens they are projected...

The firestick 4k handles HEVC (h.265) very well even compared to a quality PC and video card.

For sports, the stuff filmed in 4k (or 8k) looks much better in 1080 because a lot of slow motion and zooming effects that are done. The higher resolution and frame rates make all the difference.
