This works with any size tank, but for a 2.5 gal tank, it's not worth it. Water changes on that small of a tank is already easy enough with a big gulp.

If you're using a conditioner that works like Prime, as far as I know it reacts with water immediately so you have to add it after not before you fill it up. Otherwise it won't be as effective.
