although not the case in this example, it is absolutely untrue that if you don't get an email the offer wasn't trigger. it happens quite often that you actually triggered the offer but amex did not...

Chatted with Amex CS. They confirmed that the issue was due to using a different card for the purchase. They made an exception to a valuable member and issued the credit to the account.

If you didn't get the email confirming the offer, then it never triggered. They may be able to help if you call as long as you met the requirement of the offer.

Did you receive the email from amex that the offer had been triggered / redeemed? For me the email came in right away and the credit was in my account 2 days later.

Your card and your AU card are separate cards for Amex Offers
If your card has the offer then only you can spend $300 to get the credit -- if your AU card has the offer then only your AU can spend...
