What's the specific type of steel, instead of the generic "carbon steel"?

Came in the mail today. I like carbon steel blades for their sharpess. I'll put some cold bluing on this blade.
Gotta say, it's the sharpest factory edge I've ever experienced in a knife. Scary...

Good knives. I use one for hunting. The blade may rust a bit if you don't take care of it, but that's your own fault. They come very sharp. I have a large scar on my knuckle for evidentiary purposes.

No. They're Scandi grind, which is unlike the vast majority of knives. Better to practice on a low-cost knife that has the typical grind.

Hours? It took like 3 mins to heat up some vinegar in the microwave and another 1 second to put the knife in. That's 3 mins and 1 second, close to hours though.

I have a couple that are 3 years old now. They have the patina and whatever else. They
physically stink and they taste like nasty metal. If people want to spend hours maintaining an $8 knife...

Good basic knives. One in the workshop, one in the garage, one in the shed, one for cutting up cardboard garbage, one in each car. Just bought 4 more for stocking stuffers - who can't use a good...

These are great for skinning / quartering deer. Perfect size for fine cuts and the material doesn't get so slick when covered in blood and fat. I think the original design for these goes back to...

Carbon steel will react to anything acidic until it builds up some patina. It's easy to force a patina. Staining is normal for any non-stainless blade. Minor surface corrosion isn't an issue.

Completely disagree. The carbon knives are a way better steel than the stainless.
