I've been struggling to pull the trigger on upgrading my 4770k, but that's mostly for gaming. For video and processing stuff, this should be a solid upgrade.

Is this a good upgrade from a i7 4790k? Might need the extra cores as I want to get into video editing. However should I be looking at gen 3 or no? As for the price drop anyone think it might drop...

I agree. However I don't think it's gonna dip down to $130 again so if you need a processor this is a fine deal that's definitely "good enough" in a way that you won't regret it IMO.

Microcenter had it for $129 even before then, it just went up and down. Plus, you could also get $30 off the MB combo, now it's only $20. As far as MC, this certainly isn't one of the better...

Best price that is out there right now. MicroCenter had that CPU for $129.99 the week before and also weekend of Black Friday. I wonder what the chance is of getting it for that price again soon.
