HDMI issues with Onkyo is no longer a problem. I have been using a TX NR 676 for 2.5 years and not one issue with HDMI. I’ve owned Yamaha AV receivers too. Pretty equal I would say.

Just to replace TV speaker, soundbar is good enough. Unless you want to buy this + subwoofer + 5 or more sorround speakers + wiring hassle + clustered space around your media cabinet etc.

My Onkyo HDMI board gave up recently. I want to use the same speakers and subwoofer. But the subwoofer connection on Onkyo is single RCA but in Yamaha it looks like a pair of RCA in the picture....

It all depends on your speaker setup, if it’s not a reference one then the difference isn’t as significant as disc.

Yup. Netflix does Atmos on a lot of its content. Not sure about others though.
