These are junk thermometers, you would be better off doing the touch test. If you add up all the money from the steaks you will ruin using these you could buy a Thermapen.

This, get a thermapen or at least their $30+ pop thermometer. You’ll be surprised how often you use it. Chicken, shrimp, fish, steak, burgers all cooked perfect.

I had a similar looking set from World Market (their house brand I think). Unless I wasn’t supposed to wash them, they got water in the gauges when I washed them.
