$299 laptop with SSD? That's pretty awesome! Were the screen 1080p, it would be really 'sick'! The only time I can't stand a less than FHD screen, is when I'm working. For everything else, 1366x768...

Their c940 line is total garbage. Weak ass battery that phantom drains. Fans that become jet engines in menial tasks. Poorly tuned ice lake CPUs. Shoddy QA. A soundbar system that manages to sound...

Slickdeals commentators want the specs of a 3K gaming PC for less than 500 or they get real mad.. 720p isnt great for screen real estate but for elementary school you are probably fine. Change the...

People taking this out of its context. Its a low end priced laptop. Believe it or not most people still do have 1366*768 displays on laptops. And if you make a poll for people who has laptops...

The point was showing how priorities can change for different people. If I bought some laptop with 7th gen i5 for the premium price then people would be right to call me out. The one I bought is not...

because you can buy used stuff on craigslist with better specs for cheaper. plus if it breaks or the kid ruins it, you're not out a whole $300 bucks

1080p is the bare minimum for a 15in. the ppi on them is awful on anything lower.

I second this. I had a Lenovo last year with an 8th-gen i5 that was screaming-fast, but a 720p 15.6" screen. Text looked so blurry, and colors weren't good either. I could only stand it for like 2...

At this price point it would be better to just get a Chromebook.

This has been $300 and already has a post up. Decent deal but 720p screen kills it for most people.

I’d say that kills it for a small % of people i bought this for my mother she’s 71 and just uses this to browse the web. I’d say this is great laptop for children. If i was able to get through high...

Lenovo is so aggressive at every computing level and they are so good at what they offer. Best laptop company in the business.

I agree. However, it does have 256gb SSD and 8gb of RAM, which you cannot find at this price. Any laptop I found with a FHD screen was in the $450 range. Some still with 4gb of RAM.

Good to know this is regular price. I'll save for later. Are there any 4k or atleast 1080p laptops $500 and under?

Yeah, it could be better, but for most kids, and old folks like me, it will work just fine. Repped.

Usually, these HD screens are shit, bad colors and about 200-220 nits. The resulotion can be enough for lots of people: 60+ or 10-.

Are you for real? Did you have a bad experience with one or something? I know for a fact that the C940 line is very nice, you might have had a defective unit.
Post #138397697 added 06-29-2020 6:24 PM by UniqueHamster598 in Deal Talk
I disagree... I used a 720p all through college and I was fine. It just made it a little bit nicer when I switched to 1080p later, lol.

Agree on the 720vs1080. Nice price for everything but the screen. FWIW I got some 15” FHD acers maybe two years or 3 years ago for definitely under 400. So it can be done.
