Don't go buying a phone charger expecting it to work with the Switch. Even though the Switch uses a USB C connector, it does not adhere to USB C spec.
You can easily charge the Switch itself...

When its docked it can only go into sleep mode.
I leave mine docked and use a pro controller to turn it on or put it to sleep.

Use Nintendo brand controller to turn it on. Or push the power button at top of console. Or place an already powered on unit into the console.

This is the standard price for this refurbished dock. Too bad Best Buy stopped selling the Insignia dock set; that was a great deal at $49.99 also very compact and didn't scratch the Switch.
