at this point, I dont have many PC with USB C port, would prefer getting an encloser for regular SSD to USB 3 instead of M2 to USB C, understanding this M2 to USB C is more future proof.

Can confirm these things get noticeably hot like you can touch the metal enclosure and feel the heat even when not under heavy load. Guess that's why they come with thermal pads and metal heatsink....

you can backup your files to a different external drive or cloud. You can then create a recovery usb with your laptop software and start fresh.
