I know of no such reference. I'd only be able to suggest using a known new or good battery as a baseline comparison to the "used" battery you are evaluating. It's imperfect but there are limited...

is there a reference on ryobi tools and their amperage usage? For instance if you charge the battery and run to to empty on the OP tool what can you tell without knowing the motor amp draw?

Your only option (without having electronics tools) is to charge it up, use it with the tool and run it down and see if it has correct or acceptable capacity.

A multi-meter will tell you if it's charged, but it won't tell you if one or more of the cells have degraded capacity. Unfortunately there is only a small amount of info in the voltage which is...

Does it seem like the unit is overheating? I run the brushless 18v and if I trim quickly and don't let it rest a little it will shut off after 5 min or so of steady trimming. I agree, my ryobi gas...

I pretty much just use the 4ah battery in the trimmer while edging. 2ah shuts off constantly with that job so I only use it if there’s a little bit of the job left to do. It is ok for trimming but...

Check the YouTube videos on this, there are a few ways to try and ‘reset’ the battery that might bring in back to life for you. These batteries are kinda well known for needing to be stored not in...
