BR40 is the size recommended for 6" cans...so yes, they work quite well. You'll find they cover a lot more area with light than a BR30 or standard A bulb.

The prices you are quoting are "regional" prices because there is an instant local electric company rebate. Not everyone can get those prices.

BR30 is different from BR40. hard to describe, but BR40 covers more space with bulb being bigger. If you get the chance, you should try both to see the difference.

Other colors seem to be same price if 3000k isn't your thing. I saw 4000k and 5000k and 2700k. Sadly I want 3500k which almost nobody makes and if they do they never believe in putting them on sale 🤣

as far as i know, costco does not carry 100w equivalent LED light in store. (they do online).
