Aeron definitely needs to be sized correctly to the user to minimize the possibility of the hard frame cutting off circulation in the legs. The plastic frame design is outdated like you said....

TL;DR: I would guess the stelcase would serve you better. I would recommend you against anything with a mesh seat bottom, mesh back is probably okay. Currently have an Aeron and waiting for Embody...

I've been using an Aeron for years, and decided to go with the Gesture. Here are my comments. The Aeron is obvious how to take apart/service. Exposed screws - means you can just go right at it....
