Very true, prices are lower without BR disc. In December 2019 Persian Mafia posted this deal for 4k UHD discs from an Australian website. I bought 23 movies averaging $7 each 4k UHD disc. Price was...

It depends on a couple of things, but I think your tv supports dolby vision. If so you'll want a player that supports it also. This one does NOT, along with the Xbox one s/x and series s/x. Or even...

How is the quality for DVDs? Is there a way to improve it? I have the 420 and people say their DVDs look great but they seem the same to me. Is there a setting that needs to be adjusted?

world's better on a 4k blu ray because of bitrate and for many sites, sound. PQ goes HBO

The Xbox One S/X, Series S/X, and PS5 do not support disk playback in Dolby Vision. If you want to play back your disks in DV, the only way is through a dedicated player. Edit: This doesn't...

Optical will at best only give you DVD quality 5.1 (pcm, dts or Dolby digital/AC-3) it doesn't work with 7.1 Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master Audio etc which are the standard on blu rays.

This is a 4k player which is a step up from blu ray and is a bit overkill for what you will use it for. You can probably get a regular blu ray player for under $50.
