Not exactly true. I believe onstar uses att but the reason why you get coverage when your phone doesn’t is because the car has a much stronger powered antenna. I’ve had coverage in my car via onstar...

There is no satellite phone service in OnStar. It uses regular cell towers. It does use GPS satellites to determine location. Your dad probably had occasional better luck with OnStar phone calls...

BTW- if a crook steals your car, to disable the OnStar they only need to break off the small antenna for it. I like the idea but the cost is ridiculous with Siri being on phones now

Just called to cancel and got Remote Access for $7.99. Lock and Unlock from a mobile app is pretty convenient.
