I have a similar model with over 16,000 hours on it so if anyone is in need of a budget SSD for an older system this is definitely a safe choice.

You are the exception. A single game these days can be 100gb. A 4k video is about 1gb per 90 seconds. Raw photos 50mb per shot. Adds up real quick.

Sure. Keep the current drive as well. Use the SSD for OS and applications. Use the old drive to maintain storage of stuff that's not used often or doesn't need to be accessed quickly.

Yeah maybe... pretty limited use case right there though. Even in an older laptop I'd pay the extra few bucks for at least 1 TB. People are buying them; I see posts for 500gb sata all the time...
