Two tree stumps work perfectly for me. Slightly heavier than concrete blocks, and stayed on the tray just fine without straps. You'll need the right size stumps of course.

There are holes in the tray to use bungie cords to strap concrete down blocks (for weight). However, I'm guessing they'll still want to slide around a bit. So, I did a quick/cheap mod with mine....

Or you could buy this and break even after 2 uses. Yes it's kind of big. But if you have a lawn big enough to dictate this then you prob have the 10 Sq ft to store this. Just stand it up on end.

You can rent a gas powered walk behind model for $70-$100, depending on your location. Then you don't have to store the aerator for the other 364 days a year it is not in use.
